A 1200 watt amp will draw peaks of around 170 amps when cranked you will need a 2 ga power wire if its going to be longer then 8 ft that said what is the RMS power of the amp? 94

Find out the exact RMS rating of the amplifier then crunch some numbers. If the RMS is around 200-300 watts you should not have any problems.

To find out the approximate number of amperes a system would use at maximum volume take the RMS rating of the amp and divide it by 12.

Wow, get a heavy duty 300 amp alternator or else you're screwed
