they're all the same. obd1, ob2. just use the one that came stock on your car.

can you pass a type r swap in an obd1 car? I'm not sure if you can. As i understand it, the engine has exist in obd1 form for it to pass for you. if it is an obd2 motor, but has an obd1 equivalent, you can just set it up as obd1.
I just did this. I have a '99 gsr swap in a '95 civic. I ghetto-rigged an obd1 evap solenoid from I think a d16z6. I just found a spot on the manifold to mount it, wired it to pin A20, and ran the vacuum lines to it. I had to put in a vacuum T because there are no extra ports on the manifold. The obd2 evap system would not have worked unless i wanted to add a lot more sensors.
I passed the ref on monday. goodluck!
