anyone else have this problem and how do/did you fix it?? release the emergency brake lever but the light stays on..damn 16 year old cars!! gotta luv em

That usually means theres a problem with the brakes ie: pads shoes or the master cylinder etc.

Hes correct. My moms Civic did the same thing and it ended up being low on brake fluid. Light went off after i topped it off. Check your brake components you might find another problem.

Yeah, check the fluid level. Although the brake system indicator has nothing to do with the pads and shoes, the extra fluid required to fill the calipers when the pads are low can often turn it on. There is no brake pad sensor on hondas though.

The other thing to check is that the e-brake switch is not staying grounded when you let the handle down. It's probably the fluid though.

It's right next to the e-brake handle, under the center console. There is a single wire running to it, green with a red stripe.

Did filling the fluid not fix it?
