wierd e-brake light problem??
every morning when i getinto my 98 LS for the past few days, i notice that when i turn the car on and release the ebrake, the 'brake' light in my console stays illuminated.
it usually stays on for a little while while driving and then shuts off randomly..
i think it might shut off when the car warms up.
nothing feels wrong and it drives, brakes and idles perfectly normal. whats the problem??
any help is appreciated

Yup....it is an indication of your E-brake and your brake fluid being low.

aight cool cool... do you think i have a leak or is it just maintenance time?
EDIT-- oh also, i park on a slightly steep hill. is that maybe the reason? im guessing that could have affected it due to the light turning off when i drive for a little while

i had the same problem. decided to unplug sensor on the cap. problem fixed, no more light. I just make a habit of checking my fluid once in a while. You could always go buy a new cap if you really want, that is assuming your fluid isnt low and the sensor is just messed.
check for leaks, if u dont find any have your master cylinder checked (or u can do it if u know wtf ur doing) cuz my auto teacher told me thats the common spot where the fluid can leak and wont show visable leaking
I heard that it is just a malfunction and there is a TSB out for it. My light only comes on when the car is cold. I would thing if fluid is low there would be another "dummy" light on
I heard about that too. TSB 03-029
MC reservoir filter 46666-S04-J02
MC reservoir float 46666-S84-999
I'm not sure firsthand whether these #s are correct. YMMV...
But I do know that the brake fluid reservoir & handbrake lever DO share the same warning-lamp circuit.

everyone thanks for the help.. im gonna go check everything now. but does anyone think that becuse i park on ahill overnight this could be the reason? because if im at school or a friends and it has time to cool down it never comes back on even if the engine is running cold. so thats why im assuming my levels are okay. ill check anyway tho

Mine has a float that's some kinda solid plastic stuff. I'm not sure I understand how it can wedge itself sideways, but ????
