Default I Think This Goes Here... Question About Putting Engine on Stand

I know I either want to start a D-Series or B-Series build up on the weekends, not sure yet.

My question is what engine stand should I get? Are most of them universal so they will hold all styles and sizes of engines (E.g. hold a Chevy big block one weekend then a B16 the next)?

Also, what weight tolerance should I get? I might eventually want to do a 5.0 swap in my 93 LX, so anyone have an idea how much one of those weighs...?

The tolerances will be listed on the stand description.

Yes they accept more than one "style" of engine- the legs that hold the engine swivel and turn to accommodate different patterns.

I used one for a Rocket 350 cid Olds engine and then used it to hold my b16 block

If you have them you can use your block to tranny bolts, or just go to your hardware store and pick up some of the same specs

So would I mount the bitch to the stand from the tranny side, meaning I'd have to take the tranny off of it?

Yes, you will have to take your transmission off to out your engine on a engine stand.

recomend to use new bolts if possible when mounting the engine to the stand and a empty tire under the engine when your not working on it
i had a case where i mounted a d series and couple bolts broke luckily there was a tire underneathe but still some damage was done to the oil pan
