Lookin at another lude...
Ive owned my 98 lude since april and i love it. My only drawback on the car as you all know is that its an auto
Ive wanted to do a maual swap for a while but ive been told numorus times just to sell it and get a manual. Ive been looking for manuals the whole time too and i think i might have found one. Im going to make an appointment to look at it and i wanted to make sure i had all my checkpoints. I know i need to get a Compression Leakdown test but as far as transmission goes I have never driven a manual prelude so i dont know how a "working" one should act. Also, the compression over all the cylinders needs to be around 180 right?

As far as I've seen for compression tests, there's no "magic" number they need to be around, as long as the numbers are consistent around each cylinder, you should be ok. As for the manual thing, I'm finally getting mine swapped from auto, so I'm right there with you.

if you've never driven one, then it will be hard for you to determine if the tranny is good or not, especially since most likely you will be driving too poorly to determine if it's a poor tranny or poor driving. why not just take it to a trusted mechanic or bring someone along with you?

ya around 180....i have a 98 auto prelude too...i did a compression test at my work (Ferman Acura) and my results read (1)195(2) 200(3) 205(4)200...it should be around there for manual too.

lol... hopefully he's a fast learner!
i'm not so sure how i would feel about selling my baby to someone stalling and killing clutch right in front of me!
but dont let that get in your way stylion, just do the best you know how, the learning curve is quick, good luck.
