Making the secondary butterflys in the intake manifold open sooner
Does any one know how this can be done. It would be better if they open around 4800-5000 anywhere in between there. Will a vtec controller make this happen i dont believe it will. Do you guys think it will create more, the same, or less power. Im hoping it will create a little more mid rpm power. In another instance i dont really think it needs to be done because when going thru the gears the butterflys never close. So essentially this would be something used for a better start in first gear. Tell me what you guys think. good idea, bad idea, or waste of time.
bad idea...if its a pretty much stock gsr motor it will do no good to change where they open up...honda put it at that point for a reason
Bad idea, the gsr's dual stage manifold is designed for good midrange. Removing it will cause you to lose tons of low-mid power.

Exactly, there are so many kids in my town that get a vfac just to lower the vtec x-over point..yet it serves no purpose whatsoever.

they just end up wasting more gas

the obvious has been stated already.....but
if you really, really want to do this, then just hardwire a switch to the iab solenoid thingamajig.

It is possible...kelly on Team Integra did it, but IIRC it was like $150 total (not including his time) to wire in some strange MSD pillbox. He gained virtually no power.
yeah thats what i was thinking but then again you are doing the same thing if you buy a skunk 2 intake manifold just converting a dual stage into a single. i heard single stage was better, i wasnt planning on doing this just wanted to know what everyone thought about the idea before buying another intake manifold.
Single stage CAN be better. It depends on your goals and other parts you have installed.
Pegging the secondaries open all the time is a huge mistake since you have the entire butterfly assembly blocking airflow.
