Default Need a system for '01 Integra

Does anyone recommend any brands for speakers? I want to upgrade my sound for my Teg and wanted to find out what brands out there are good now. I was maybe thinking of getting an 8" sub too.....any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

I would suggest upgrading to some civic speakers.

Seriously though, depends on how much you have to spend and a lot of personal preference.

I had Sony Xplod everything before what I have now. It all sounded like crap so don't get it. Pioneer and Alpine sound the best to me but for some reason I went with Kicker componenets in my doors and two comp vr 12" Subs on a KX 600.1 and it sounds clear and everything sounds just right. But you can pretty much get anything. If you haven't heard of massive audio you should look into it. Also rememebr....you get what you pay for....

First define your goals and budget (the type of music you listen to also plays a small role).

Example:
Goals - competition sound system, slightly better than stock, loud system, lots of bass, etc.

Budget - how much do you want to spend on equipment, wires, any custom work, can you install it by yourself?, etc.

Just give us some perameters and I am sure people can help you out.

For example, I have what I guess you could call a middle of the road system, but it is plenty loud (can listen to any kind of music very clearly with all the windows (and sunroof) open at highways speeds), hits pretty loud, and looks decent (some custom work in the trunk with amps and sub). My equipment is the following:
HU - Pioneer Premier 730
Fronts - Infinity Reference 6000cs components
Rears - Alpine Type R 6x9's
Sub - Alpine Type R 10" in a sealed box (.66^3 before displacement)
Amps - Rockford Fosgate 250a2 (for the sub) and a Rockford Fosgate 400a4 (for the interior speakers)
All connection wires are Stinger

This is in a 99 Integra sedan by the way.

As pnthr30 said, figure out what you want to do with the system. The most important thing is set a budget, and if you actually want to meet it, set your budget a hundred or two below your anticipated budget since you will run into extra costs and will potentially upgrade certain things.

Heres my middle range setup. Its more than enough for me, especially in an integra, and achieved my goal of having a good quality overall sound.

Front - Alpine 6.5" components
Back - Infinity 6.5" Two-Ways in the back
Amp - Alpine MRV-F540 4 Channel
Sub - 10" Alpine Type R (Box I made by myself)
Amp - Alpine MRD-M500 Mono

Stinger interconnects between HU and amps. The power and amp to speaker connections are made with knukonceptz wires.

Thanks for the replies guys!

I don't have a budget for sound. I mean, I don't wanna spend a ton of money, however i'm willing to spend to get better sound. My guess would be around $300 - $500. My dad has a TL and the sound is perfect for me. Not too loud, but still got a little bump in it and that's my goal! I listen to R&B, Jazz, and Gospel.

I currently have a Rockford amp that I can possibly use for my front and back speakers. The Rockford amp is 300 Watts - 4 channels. Should I go with a JL amp? I sense that I should get Alpine or Infinities for the front and back! But let me know what u guys think.

Next would be speakers, and the only way to tell for sure if you like the sound is to hear them , in a car, same car as yours, or at the very least on a demo board, I like Eclipse, [its what I have in my 94LS] http://www.eclipse-web.com

Last is the sub, [ as you already have an amp] again you have to hear them, find oun you like the sound of JL makes a good 8" http://www.jlaudio.com [ I don't run a sub in my car, I get all the bass I need from the 4x 6.5" Eclipse]

Use the 4ch amp you have to run the front speakers and the sub, use deck power to run the rear speakers, [ if there is nothing wrong with the stock rear speakers, use them and spend the money on better front speakers, maybe componants]

Thats my nickels worth, I hope it helps. 94
