i have a really weird coolant loss in my car. my radiator is always full when its not raining. As soon as it rains my radiator will be empty in a day or two. I always check it when its not raining and its always full. Also when its raining i get some water on my driver side carpet. Im am not sure if that has to do with my coolant loss. has anybody ever had this problem?

 

I have never heard of this one before. But, it could be coincidence. First off, just check for any leaks throughout the system. Look at heater hoses, radiator hoses, the radiator itself, thermostat housing, etc. Be sure nothing is dripping or leaking. In the case that you dont find any leaks, I would do a compression check and a leakdown test on each cylinder. May be a headgasket issue. Those are my thoughts, I am sure others will have input, but that will be a good start.

Kinda sounds like the heater core is leaking. I am guessing like most hondas you have a bad fogging problem, which means you are allways running your heater to help with the fogging when it is raning. Hence the loss during the rain.

I know on all 3 of my hondas the fogging has sucked.

 

water on passenger side carpet = heater core. I agree with Racermech.

have fun with that. heater core is one of the most dreaded replacement jobs. on my mustang I just looped the heater hoses so that that heater was out of the coolant flow circuit. I just did NOT want to deal with it.

i guess it might be the heater core leaking. I had to replace my firewall harness when i got my car so the dash had to come out. Now the air does not come out of the top vents to defrost the windshield but it comes out of all the other vents. i dont know why it wouldnt come out the top vents.Could this have something to do with it. I get most of the water on the driver side floor but some on the passenger as well. thanks

check the coolant hoses connecting to the heater, if your dash was taken out they may not have been connected well.

also, see if anything is blocking the moving mechanisms on the heater core, they are on the left side of the heater core

 

does anyone have a diagram of the heater core and its controls and the climate control?

 

So the mystery of my CRX is finally solved....

Damn it, I really don't want to deal with the heater core either.
