No Butterflies versus P72 ECU
My IM on my GSR has its Butterflies taken out will this affect a P72 Ecu, will I throw codes? Should I even bother Wiring them up if not will I throw codes? Should I use my P72?

True, but running p72 with no butterflies wont hurt anything.

What code will you throw??? The butterly runs off vacuum. I ran mine for 3 years with the butterflies took out. There isnt one code that I can find for the IAB.

The P72 DOES control the butterflies by means of a vacuum solenoid. But it won't throw a code if there is nothing connected.

OBD-1 P72 doesn't have a code for IAB at all.
I think OBD-2 has a code if the IAB solenoid valve is gone. If that valve is in the circuit, but the vacuum hoses aren't connected; the ECU has no way to know the actual valves aren't working.

Well, P72 has to have a knock sensor. Your best bet is to get a P28 and have it chipped. Only problem you might get is a vacuum leak from removing the butterflies. I run a spoon chipped P28 and I pull harder from a stop than a gsr w/butterflies and a P72.

What does this have to do with manifold butterflies? If the block has a knock sensor he has nothing to worry about.

I might not be right but the P72 has to have a knock sensor. if the knock sensor isn't ran then the car wont start. with a p28 u only have to have v-tec, ground, and oil pressure for it to run. Right?
