Is 13.1 CR ok with 100 octane for daily driving?
You can run 13:1 on 91 octane if you wanted to, it all depends on how much power you want to make and how the car is tuned. I know someone that runs 13:1 on a 91 octane set up, I plan on running a 13.5:1 cr on 91 octane, I will just have it tuned for that, it wont make much hp but I plan on having 2 set ups, 1 for the street and 1 for the track, the track setup will be for 100 so I can run more timing and make some more HP, again it all depends on how YOU want it tuned.
13:1 on 100 can be done, dependin on a few factors. the particular piston i choose was not detonation resistant, it had pings and knocks on 100, i needed to run c12
that is with a 13.9:1 motor with a thick headgasket to bring it to 13.3

im just mind boggled when i see post like these that people want to run high compression on the street...first you would have to retard the timing so your loosing the hp and potential of that motor. Then people want to run hig comp on pump gas.....why? put that car on a trailor and take it to the track. Especially in so cal...the fwys and streets are a parking lot. but each to their own.

mad tuning
how else are you going to put the use of large cams to use without compression, you telling me your going to make 200 hp on a stock ITR block with Buddy Club 4, no your not, the cams are designed to make max power with a combination of things, head flow, compression, the whole combo of the motor.

Yeah but I bet if you had 13:1 cr you could make 225, I guess it all depends on what you want to do.

werd. itll make 230 when we change the 2.25 exhaust off to a 3" and take the stock tb off and put the RPM 70mm on. and 10whp isnt worth the headache of tuning 13:1 comp on pump gas. You have to pull timing to the point where its diminishing returns unless youre running race gas

13:1 is vague, which cams, what type of dynamic compression ? too many factors can influence

i just filled up for $4.509 a gallon...running 12.8:1 on 100oct base timing@18btdc...p28 with j's proggy and it has some pretty advanced timing curves

One thing I learned from all this time browsing HondaTech is that displacement > compression.
I rather run 11.5:1 2Liter motor making 220whp/150flbs on 91 octane than 1.8 liter with 13+:1 compression making same numbers on 100 octane.

Dude, where are you getting gas? I want to get some too if you can just go to 76. Typically you have to go to LAX to get it from a regular station.
