i have a 94 honda civic ex. im haveing a hard time finding out when i need to shift
if it makes any diffrence the only mod right now is a CAI

 

I can tell that you probably havnt been driving/racing your car for very long.
In answer to your question, you should rev your car to a point so that when you shift, the revs drop close to the torque peak.

 

you should shift when your transmission starts smoking.

but seriously, you will probably do well to shift just before or at redline until you get a little better feel for your car.

 

Once you get a feel for your car you will know when to shift. I am still getting used to my new si with zc in it.

 

Krow: when do you shift your ZC, i usually do it at 7200.

 

I usually shift at 7000 rpm .

 

When there is smoke bellowing from your engine and your gauges are cracked open, is the perfect time.

Seriously it really depends on your enine and car. You should just notice when your engine sounds get higher pitched and shift when they annoy you.

7000 rpm on the factory tach, or 6800 if you have a GOOD aftermarket tach.
