ok we did a y8 head swap on a y7 and we are getting fuel, spark, and everything is at tdc. It seems like it isnt sparking at all but it is for sure. we are using a y7 cam gear and a y8 timing belt and the only code we are throwing is iacv. any help would be great at this point! Shaun
what's your firing order? should be 1-3-4-2 starting bottom left pole going clockwise like so:
3 4
1 2
And the number one cylinder is closest to the timing belt.

cuz we took the plugs and tried to start the car and it was sparking. it wont do ****! the cranks and all turns but it will not start and doesnt sound like it wants to at all
ok well your title says car wont crank over so now that we know that it will your motor needs three basic things to run air fuel spark i would say check the firing order as redlinedvtec says. good luck

I just completed this exact same swap last week, except built it completely from scratch and put it into an obd1 EH, lots of fun.
I used a Y8 cam gear and a Z6 timing belt, don't know if there is any difference there, but my car runs great so IDK. Didn't use the Z6 belt because I was told to, it is just what I had laying around and it fit :shrugs:
If you are getting spark but it isn't starting, then I'm with the others, double check your firing order... if your injectors are spewing fuel at the opposite time that you're firing, things aren't going to work out very well.

did u get any progress on this? im haveing the EXACT same problem on the EXACT same setup... im running a y7 wit y8 head i have spark and fuel but it wont start just turns over the whole time... im clueless. also just today it started to sound ALMOST like it was going tostart but just wouldnt.
edit: im using a z6 belt, y8 cam gear, and my firing order is correct.. timings correct also. is their a relay or fuse to check? my main relay click when i turn the key, and fuel pump primes..
not trying to jack ur thread but we could be having the same problem

the problem we had on my friends car was that when we put the head together and just threw it on, he didnt set the valve lash correctly so some rocker arms were real loose... and some where real tight at the wrong times, on tdc for each cyl. so the compression was all f'd up.
