Default B20B-Vtec Valve Clearance (stock bottom end)? Cam options?

Hey guys, I was really going to turbo it. But the more I think about it, the more I want to stay away from boost on the B20. I have a B17 head without cams and am not sure what to go with in terms of power.

Im not looking for peak numbers at all. Im going to keep the stock rev limit or near it, seeing as how the b20 doesnt like to be revved and plus the rod bolts.

Now iv read about people running ITR cams and have been successful without opening the valve reliefs. Now if im going to keep stock compression and a low redline, would the ITR cams even be worth it? Should I just go with B16 or GSR cams?

Thanks for the help,
Eric

PS. Merry Christmas everyone.

We will clay the motor.

Its just im not sure what cam I should get. I dont want to buy a set of cams and when we clay the motor, the valves hit the pistons.

The motor I helped with was a B20Z bottom end with a GSR head and JUN 3 cams. The intake valves were barely hitting and the valve pockets needed opened up a bit. This was with the gears set at 0deg and we never messed with them.

I know that doesn't help a great deal but that is just my experience. Good luck with the build.

Everybit helps man.

Ill have a B17 head (same cast as b16) So imthinking there might be more room than a GSR head. And if im using a lower lift than a JUN3 and the compression is about a point lower, I think I can get away with it.

I wanna see who has what and what they did to go about this. We will clay the motor, but I want to hear other success/fail stories.
