i happen to break my lca bolt that holds my strut. it broke 1/4way out. tomrorow im about to use a grinder to remove the strut and bolt. where do you guys recommend grinding the strut to remove it. right now im planning to grind straight up the welded nut.

cut between the strut and LCA, and have a new bushing pressed in.

steel bushing? wtf ... it's rubber.

no need to cut anything. just get a torch and burn the **** out of the bushing.

go to honda and get a new bushing and bolt first of course. and put some antisieze on that bolt so that doesn't happen again. you can use a ball joint press to put the new bushing in.

why not take off whole strut assembly with lca and cut it when its off the car. in my opinion that would be easier for you

personally dealing with this on my rusty *** 4 door I can tell you...

you really have two choices.
1. grind/cut off the front section of the fork with the integral nut. Spray the crap outta the remaining bolt with PB Blaster or wd40, and whack the piece out with a punch. This still leaves you having to buy a new shock and bolt.

2. Go buy a New/Used lower control arm and shock and remove the old one from your car without dissembling it. Then replace them with junkyard parts. I went this route because I needed Holes in the LCAs for the sway bar. You may need this upgrade to so It may be a good time to change. just a thought.

Have fun and Don't forget my favorite stuff.

usually the bolt seizes because its stuck in the bushing, i was able to get the remaining piece out by turning it with vice grips

did you get the bushing out?

if not you're wasting your time because the bolt is siezed in the bushing.

got the bolt off by hammering it

hack saw and grinder did the job to get the welded nut on the strut

my car should be on the road in couple of days waiting for a bolt to come in
