Default How soon do 225/40 ZR18 tires wear out?

I have a question on my tires.
My tires have 34,000 miles on it and the inside edge is warping where one tread is higher than the other alternating. Is this normal? I normally rotate the tires at 5,000 miles. How many miles do these tires normally get??? Thanks in advance for any replies.

if it is wearing more on one side. its out of alignment. and it depends on the treadware of the tire on how long it lasts.. correct me if im wrong. but i think 420 tw is 45k. and 400 tw is 40k. thats the only tires ive ever had soo

those ratings (treadwear of 280, or 400, etc.) do not actually indicate how many miles the tire is supposed to last. the numbers can only be compared to tires of the same brand, as each tire company uses its own method for determining that number. these numbers should only be used for a rough estimate, at best.

in other words, 280 on a kuhmo tire may last you 24,000 miles, whereas 280 on a dunlop tire may last you 40,000. some tires just wear out faster than others.

the problem stated sounds like your tire is "cupping". cupping can be caused by underinflation, out-of-balance wheels/tires, bent rims, bad tie-rod.... a lot of camber can also accelerate the problem.

you are talking about z rated tires... they wear quickly

I had dunlops sp200e on my bmw 235 45 17 and they wore 20-30k miles

others had good year, pirelli, etc... that wore in 15k miles

a performance tire will not last long... do not expect more than 30k... and that is pushing it for some

Hmm... my tires usually last around 30K or so. If it's worn on one side but not the other it's most likely out of alignment. I also rotate my tires every 3K.

well, all season and high performance will give you a longer life... at the expense of the high performance side

I usually get 2 sets of tires...

1 - High performance (or better) Summer - I get about 20k + miles (whis is decent for that type of tire)

2 - Winter only - driven several winters... still going strong

generally speaking, a high performance all season tire does nothing well all the time. It gives better performance in the summer than a winter tire and better performance in the winter than a summer tire... but does not do as well as a combo of the two

I tried driving last winter with my summer tires on... couldn't even get out of my driveway... slapped on the winter tires... was going places that the AWD cars were getting stuck (even some of the 4x4 with the 22" spinners... gotta laugh at that!)

it never snows here. just a lot of dryness in the summer, rain the other 9 months.haha, thats why i had to get a good tire for rain with the best dry/wet traction that i could find for a decent price

I used to have Dunlop spfm901 225/40/18 and they only lasted me about 10000K, this was when I first lowered my car and got alignment and all that, then I replaced them after the 10000k with the same tires and they only lasted me not even 5000K, that sucks..so I geuss its good to get your alignment done every couple months or so.
