Are there any ECU programs for the 05 EP3, which ones run best with I/H/E?

Default Are there any ECU programs for the 05 EP3, which ones run best with I/H/E?

I have been lookin for programs for my EP3, but havent been able to find anything for on 05. Is this not the same car as the 04? I am doing wheels, tires and suspension setup as soon as it warms up, but I have already been looking for a good aftermarket program (like Hondata) to run with I/H/E. Since this is a DD I am holding of on FI for as long as I can, so if anyone knows where to look for current programs and which ones work the best to plug and play with bolt ons I would appreciate some info.

Thanks, Giff

I've heard nothing but good about the Hondata reflash, but remember that it's designed for IHE and that's it. If you're stopping there, the Hondata reflash would be a good thing to do.

If you think you might build a super K motor at some point, then you might think about spending money on a more expensive Hondata.

If you turn into a super tuner yourself, the AEM full management computers probably have an advantage, but at an expensive price. Most of us wouldn't want to spend money on the AEM, I don't think.

btw, it's http://www.hondata.com

Tons of info on their site (dyno's, user experiences, etc). I've had Hondata for about 15k miles, if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

I am reading some things that say if you use a race header in an I/H/E setup then the Hondata reflash may be a waste. Kind of like the car is making as much power as its going to make with that setup regardless of what the ecu is telling it.

Anyone have any opinions or dyno tests to prove or disprove this?

Thanks

I don't have anything to prove it, but that does not make sense to me.

The Hondata reflash has an altered fuel map and spark curve designed to take advantage of the "typical" intake and "typical" header and freeflow exhaust.

The Hondata reflash should be altering the fuel map and spark curve beyond what the OEM computer would be capable of doing. In fact, I believe the OEM computer starts limping at what would be the maximum spark advance under load for the Hondata reflash.

Check out this link, its on the Hondata website:

Note the dyno graph towards the bottom of the page, CAI and headers VS. CAI, headers and Hondata reflash. They note something could be wrong, but I was speaking with Andyep3 and he was comparing two cars, both with CAI and headers and one had the flash and he was saying that he felt they compared pretty equally.

Thanks for pointing that out. You'd think after all this time, there would be more dyno charts to validate or contradict that early test.

The next time I see Matt at Honda-Tech I will ask about it.

It doesn't make sense to me but the charts are clearly there to worry about.

Does anyone else have any actual experience with the flash used in conjunction with the CAI and headers VS. using just CAI and headers? It seems like if you help this engine breath a little better the flash may not be worth it if that is as far as you are going to go????

actually the hondata program was specifically tuned for a cold air intake only. the addition of a header wouldn't hurt since it'll still help the car breathe better.
