Default stripped strut hex key hole thing

i just notice the top of hte strut where you use a hex key to lock it into place and use a wrench to turn the nut was strip( the hex hole is stripped). Is there any other way getting that off without buying a new strut

only problem is if i remove it the lca bolt will break or at least i think it will so either way i will have to get a new strut unless you can do it without standing on it?

correct. especially if your geting new ones. Also if you have lowering springs or coilovers, then you wont have to worry about the spring shoting at you.

I ran into that problem a couple weeks ago. U should take the whole strut assembly off. Take the vise grips and wrap rubber bands around the teeth so u don't scrape the shaft too much. U could probably wrap them around the strut if u want. Then clamp them on that strut shaft hard as u can. Stand on the vise and strut and try to break loose the top nut. Oh, u can just cut the dust cover to get at the shaft. And I think it would be a lot harder if the strut is still on the car, so might as well take it off.

No your not. Those are cheap metals, just get a spare bolt just in case. Also if you want you can take it to like a mechnic, and they can spin it off for you.
