What are you going to be using for fuel management? This has a large role in what you should be doing about your timing.

as of right now it looks to be only Vortech 12.1 fmu and a apexi controller for boost. I know nothing about hondata. Which I know everyone says to get.

.5 or 1 degree per lb of boost. would be safe. Mine was on 10 degrees and i got lucky when i accidently boost 14 psi. the timing was knocked backed so i did not have a blown motor.

So nothing to actually control timing except the distributor right?

might want to think a little more about engine management. Need atleast a safc to idle those 450s. So you are gonna have to come up with that or another kind of ems.

I was looking at the Apexi v-afc for boost but I would also need the s-afc? Would it be better to get a S-AFC first then the V-AFC?

the vafc is the same exact thing as the safc. The only thing the VAFC does is control vtec points. SAFC is for nonvtec.
