I bought a new engine with about 75k miles on it and wondering what i should do to it before I install it..new headgasket, timing belt, water pump and oil pump is what i was thinking..anything else? I will probably boost it later...just about 6-8 psi though so stock internals should be fine with that but im gettin off topic..so anything else i should do before the install?
Man those engines are just broken in at that mileage. Unless it was abused,Id just do a timing belt, water pump, and front engine seals and maybe the oil pan if its leaking.
The headgasket should be fine unless its already blown and the oil pump is overkill IMO, but then again its better safe than sorry...
A clutch would be a good idea as well as distributor cap/wires/plugs and all the usual tune-up stuff...Tranny fluid also...

I agree, I don't know which motor it is, but I had (2) D16y8's die with about 90K on them due to excessively worn rod bearings.
