Default Quick CRX question...

What would it take to get a rex into the low 12s? I'm thinking turbo b16 running on 15-20 lbs of boost...But I need some more specifics.

Assume I can find the motor cheap from a junkyard, and that I will be fabbing the exhaust and intake piping myself.

So, what do you think I would need?

BTW, I'm new here. Check out my Resto project: http://www.cardomain.com/id/xxbulaxx

My friend has stock b16 with a revhard turbo kit and good tuning and he hit low 12s on azenis..in a 91 si..
Lots of ways to hit 12sec 1/4 mile time..

And you're not going to find a b16 in a junkyard in US..unless its the 99-00si motor
But if you want to order one get one from hmotorsonline.com ..
You'll also need a mount kit, axles, wiring changes and lots of other ****..
The motor is like 1350 plus shipping but you will have to spend over 2000(including price of motor) to get it in..And if you cant do it yourself..you have to pay someone for labor +$500-700..
Another 1500-2000 for the turbo kit..
Another 300-500 for good tuning..
Another 400 for good tires
I can keep going on..

Well there are quite a few places out here that sell motors for for about $500-$600 but if you build your motor right and get good tuning you shouldnt really worry about going through a new motor every month. It seems like you dont mind spending money, so might as well build it right the first time. But you could probably get a complete swap for around $1500 and put it in yourself.

Am I thinking of the b18 then? I meant the DOHC VTEC motor that's easily found. I plan on building it right, no worries there...Forged bottom end, dished pistons, a little head work, nice intake, and a good turbo setup. I can't justify buying an entire turbo kit that goes right in...I can't see spending that much money when I can build my own system, which will easily outperform a kit, for much less. I'm thinking equal-length turbo-header, T3/T4 hybrid, nice BOV and external Tial wastegate. I also want to run straight-thru exhaust with a straight-thru muffler at the back...I can always set up some flanges and a test pipe somewhere so I can bolt in a cat for emmissions testing. I'm rather new to Hondas, so I don't know what a setup like this will get me...

you dont need a "nice intake" with turbo. Do alot of research. Search is your friend on honda tech. Search the forced induction archives. There is alot of really good info in there. Good luck

Well, flow is everything...

Once again, I'm new to Hondas, I don't know how well the stock head and intake manifold flows.

A b16a is way easier to find than any b18c. Yeah just build your own turbo kit and it will be a little cheaper than buying a kit thats all ready and boxed up. If you get all of that stuff done to the motor that you mentioned, you will have a fast and reliable motor.

Lots of people run that much boost and higher..
But just remember 15 lbs of boost isnt the same with every turbo..
