Default threw a rod

hey guys, im brand new to this board. im a regular user on a local message board in louisville. thought i would try this one out. i have a 89 honda crx (dx) with a b16a1, I/H/E, lowered, sway bars, all the usual stuff

well, i got bad news. i was driving the other day on the express way doing about 80 mph, when all the sudden i heard a thud, i didnt really think anything about it, then my oil light came on, this is when i got worried b/c i just changed my oil two days ago. about 5 secs later my engine makes a funny noise and completely shuts down. i get my car towed to my friends shop, we take off my oil pan (which had a whole in it, im guessing something in the road punctured it) and saw a bunch of metal pieces laying in it. i was so shocked at this point. then we begin to take off my windage tray that has a HUGE dent in it, and there is a piece of my rod laying at the bottom. we havent got to dissemble to motor yet, but what do you all think my chances are of my block being salvagable?

ls/vtec (was god's way of telling you to)
if u dont want to then u can just replace with another b16 block
both can be had for cheap anyway

ls/vtec's blow. no offense to any owners of it, but all i hear abotu is them blowing up left and right. i guess if you dotn dick around and really spend soem time and money getting ti doen RIGHT, it wont blow that quick, but i'd rather personally just not take the chances. BTW i myself threw a rod about a year ago on my b16a1 which i had bought 4 days prior, lol.

you didnt really throw a rod unless you have a hole on the front and back side of the block

Yeah..thats because alot of people just bolt a vtec head to an old worn down block and half-*** everything...Then go out and beat on it like its indestructable..Its like they think because they have a high revving head they can rev the motor like crazy ..but as you know the ls block has a shitty stroke ratio and the rod bolts tend to stretch at high rpm//makin the block unstable..

I built a lsvtec for my friend like a year ago using a stock b16 head/stock b18a block and ge lsvtec kit and and with the msd ignition set the rev limit at 8000rpm..
Only thing we did was add was gsr oil pump/water pump and arp rod bolts..
The motor is still running very strong after a year now.....
