i am in search of a smaller pully for my alternator. yep thats right a smaller(overdrive) pulley. any help would be great.

 

you can burn the alternator up doing that, be carefull.

 

i dont want to go much smaller. the problem is that i got a high output alternator and at idle the car is pretty much running off of the battery. the volts drop down to like 12v and sumetimes lower. and thats with no drain on it at all. the alt doesnt start working till about 1300rpms. so if i get an overdrive pulley that should help out.

 

Have you considered the voltage regulator? RPM's affect amperage, not so much voltage.

 

no i havent. i just got the alternator and i cant imagin the regulator would allow it to drop that low being so new.

lol still probably uses used parts, most manufacturers do.

 

I think Unorthodox racing makes pulley's for alternators. I am not sure though.
