I was jst curious what an alternator pulley does?

does it just free up hp, by not using as much effort to turn the alternator?

 

Um, it holds the alternator belt?

If you mean what does an UNDERDRIVE alternator pulley do, the answer is yes, it frees power by having a larger diameter, and slowing the rotation of the alternator. Also your headlights dim at idle.
