My 96 gsr idle surges. I have seen many causes people have been claiming online. I was told that it was the Fast Idle Controll valve.

Any Ideas?

 

You see many claims 'cause there's more than one thing that can cause it...

Your '96 might not even have a FITV? I think it's function was incorporated into the OBD-II version of the AICV (that's bolted onto the back of the intake manifold). Take that off & clean it out with TB cleaner. Clean out the throttle body too. Then look for vacuum leaks.

Lets see.... what about other normal tune-up stuff? I don't know whether old/fouled spark plugs (wires?) will make the idle surge, but it's another thing to think about.

 

i have the same problem and i've tried everything poeple suggested on Honda-Tech.. nothing seems to work so far.
