Default Throttle body

this is 03 civic ex. manual trans. today i opend up the air filter box (it stock) and tried to look inside the throttle body. as soon as i open up the throttle plate inside and put my finger in, i found black color dust inside with little greasy stuff. its inside on a little top part, other than that its clean inside. what is it ? is it suppose to be like that or i should clean it ? how do i clean it. it has only 30k miles. please advise.

Brake-clean and a rag, dude. It's just gunk (oil and dust) that builds up in there after a while. Nothing to be concerned about.

well if theres oil it could be ur PCV valve... i know that i've heard those little tornado things make a black soot in the intake...

welll i was thinkin at 30k ... i dout its really malfunctioning... but its possible.... PCV= positive crankcase ventilation .... like $10 bucks tops... and it lets the motor (or top end specificly) breath through the intake and doesn't let any oil into the intake...

EDIT: 1100th POST!!! suposedly ur supose to shake it and if it doesn't make a noise like a lil ball shaking inside then its no good...

check the valve first and clean the throttle body first...
