will a apexi VAFC work for me?
sup ppl?I am looking at buying a Apexi v-tec controller, but I have a d16z6motor and no ecu to engage the vtec. What I'm saying is that i have a stock p05 ecu and haven't drop the p28 in the car yet.I want to know if i can just run the vtec controller to the solenoid or something and have vtec that way, instead of having to purchase a p28 first?
You can engage VTEC a lot cheaper than that. You can get an MSD window switch and pill kit for the rpm you want or you can just get a switch or button that engages manually.
This, however, is not wise, and it would be far more intelligent to just buy the correct ECU.

Yea what he said. You can do it, but your fuel and igition maps on that ECU arent designed for VTEC. So your gonna run like crap. Just get the correct ECU.
oh,Ok i see what you guys mean.So when I buy the p28,what do I have to do to hook it up,being that the car is running the p05?Is it just plug and thats it?
