deciding what year type r
I've had a 94 gsr for past 6 years 208,000 miles.Only JUN cams, camshafts, and lighten flywheel. Still runs strong, not selling . I would love to purchase a type r.From 97-01, which year is the one to get? This r will be my daily driver, maybe it will see 200,000 miles. It upsets me to see 2000 r for sale with only 60,000 miles. Everyone raves how its extasy at 8000 miles, but I think its extasy because they hardly experience it. A type r should be driven not stored, that's why we have american muscle cars. Thanks .
Sort of depends on what color you'd like.
For championship white your choice is limited to 97-98 for a USDM car.
2000 and 2001 are the years for the yellow and black ones (black being more limited in production). HTH

Hehehehehe! I heard the Milano Red option they got in Europe was worth about 2 HP.
Naw man, in terms of performance, they're all very very similar from 97-01. The 97 has a different front grill. Apart from the color, that's the easiest way to tell them apart.

my gsr comes with obd1 therefore i believe its much faster than 96-2001 gsr's obd2. Do type r have obd2? Have not really researched the type r? Thanks for info.

OBD2. Doens't really make a difference except that OBD1 is easier to tune. Some of us have gone back to OBD1 (Hondata/Uberdata) to tune.

Chris, thanks for info. Eventually when I purchase Type r I will be adding JUN cams, camshafts, and flywheel. Here in L.A. and especially E.La I get pulled over at least once every month and first thing CHP says "prop hood open" they check for mods. Thanks once again.

if you want black, there are two blacks. 2000 offered the flamenco black pearl and the 2001 was the nighthawk black.
flamenco = green, purple, & blue flakes
nighthawk = blue flakes
anyway, 97s will be the hardest to hunt down. personally, i like black Rs, but the color is high maintenance compared to CW.

So if I starve myself over a couple days and take a hefty dump, I would then smoke the type r with the lighter paint? That would shave at least 10 lbs off the cars weight but no more than 75 lbs.
