Why were 98 R's jipped?
Can anyone confirm the slightly more aggressive cam, do the 00-01 intake cams have different part numbers?
How are the floor mats different?

There was a thread awhile ago confirming that the '00-'01 cams were slightly more agressive to compensate for the stricter emissions.
The '00 floor mats are checkered pattern and the '01 are black.
What do the 97-98 floor mats look like?

Ti finish shiftknob.

Faux carbon fiber trim. Sure, it might've been nice if ALL the Type Rx faux CF was given to us (including the window controls and such).
'00-'01s were "jipped", IMHO. I wanted Championship White.

The 98 R floor mats were identical to my 94 GSR... dark gray/light gray striped...
Anyone got pictures of the black or checkered mats?
"More aggressive to compensate for STRICTER emissions?"
That doesn't make sense to me.

becasue there is actually a 2000 Spec badge in Japan. There have been 4 versions of the R that I can find, but only 3 made it to the US:
96 Spec with the 4 lug and 15s - Never seen on US shores
97 Spec with the 5 lug and 16s(All JDM spec models come with 16s after this year. Rest of the world gets 15s) - Seen in US with 15s
98 Spec with the redesigned front - Seen in US
99 Spec is the same as a 98 - Never seen US shores, but did go to Canada
2000 Spec which hase the faux carbon and titanium ****. As well as cams - seen in US in 2 colors, Black and Yellow
2001 Spec same as 2000 - Seen in US with slightly different black but same yellow.

I don't think 98's were ripped off, I for one don't like the Faux CF. We got different cams but a better ECU. Mats were the same until 01 and those were discontinued and somewhat crappy compared to the 97-00 mats.
Oh and the Ti Shift **** is Totanium Not Ti Finish. And I prefer the Spoon **** or Mugen ****.

tjtruong~who needs to shave mine also.
Any word preceded by Faux usually doesn't hang together well with the word jipped. Who wants faux wood, carbon fiber trim, fir (as in mink coat), or anything for that matter? Faux = Bleh!
I like the 98 shift ****...not too hot, not too cold.
Cams= endless debate...won't touch that.

I thought the **** was only a Ti finish because isn't Ti really, really expensive?
Thats why the **** sells for $185-195
