Default Hybrid DXEX

Within the next month or so i am getting a ex motor dropped into my 96hb. I am getting a completer motor because they are cheap. I am not all about going superfast , but I hopoe I will be pretty quick. I am hoping to run a high 15 with a stock ex motor. Is that resonable. Should I be quicker then lets say a 97 automatic lx mustang. Or will I be smoked . For sure I'll be faster then all stock dx lx ex civics in any platfrom as long as they have the stock motor in them. Hopefully I'll be putting about 150 @ flywheel after I do a few mods.
PLease dont flame but I am only 17 in highschool and I dont have high $$$ . I also dont want to put in a older motor then my car becasue i think that pointless to put in a "92 motor into a 96" . As far as other newer B series swaps they run pretty high .
The SOCH VTEC power begins

Save your money for when you can afford a better motor..
the ex motor isn't all that much better...
plus if you are going to go through all the trouble of swaping you will appreciate the better motor.

you arent' gonna like the ex motor

actually I can get a low milage motor for less then 500$. Thats less then a decent I/H/E set up . Plus I can get more power then a IHE set up. Before the Si'sd came out epople were hooking up SOCH VTEC's and people were happy with them . Now people think that soch vetec's are pos's. I dont have to go super fast in order to be happy like the rest of you ., So stop dissing the SOCH VTEC's not everyone wants to waster 2-3k for a decent newer motor. OK ?

I don't actually think that he's dissing the sohc vtec motor. I think that he's justing letting you know what your options are. The sohc vtec motors are indeed excellent motors and they can be made to run. Their is a lot of people out running just the sohc non-vtec motors and still making crazy horsepower all motor. I just think that it would be more worthwhile to save up and move to the next level. I know that you would be more satisfied with the dohc swap instead. However, you know what you want and you can always change to something different if you aren't satisfied. I started with the sohc also and they can run depending on how much you want to spend. GOOD LUCK on the swap and tell us about it!

your right you can get a d16z6 for 500$ and it will make more power but for the long run the hassle of swapping a motor for a few hp just arent worth it. if you swap, go to a motor where you can get more power and an engine that will respond better to the mods. what i mean is if you i/h/e the ex motor and i/h/e a b16 for example, your gonna see more gains out of the b16 because its a better motor. its just a better base. then the door is open to 1000 new mods. if the money is a problem just save for it. i saved for 6 months to get my swap every day i hated my current engine/tranny more but its all worth it in the end.

But if i am looking for a very cheap way out. For a DOCH swap with decent year milage what would I be looking at ? 1500 - 4000 dollars. Sorry but I dont see money coming of the trees for me . I guess i'll be a owner of a 96 dx hb with a SOCH VTEC, MAy be when I get a litttle older i'll look into other swaps.
BTW . HAPPY NEW YEAR
