Default newbie ???

Ok im not really a newbie but i dont know to much about motor swaps. I am looking on doing a ex motor in my 99 hatch but i cant find an for good prices. Would i be able to just buy the head off a 96-00 ex motor and put it on mine. What would that do. how would it compare to the ex motor. Let me know everything you gys no about doing this. also if anyone would be able to do this. i have someone that knows abou the wiring of vtec. but i just want to know everything i need to do this or if i should just keep looking for a ex motor....

How much do you have to spend? A friend of mine can get B16's for just over $1000, which seems to make much more sense to me than any NA D series buildup (dollar for dollar).
