Default really need help w/dead 86 civic si

Its not being nice. fuel is not getting to the engine (since we push started it w/another car and therres no fuel aroma at all, and it still dont start)
The starter is dead, it just clicks and its brand spankin new, so testing for anything is kinda difficult..
i think it is getting spark, but w/out having the plugs off and hanging out while push starting it, makes it almost impossible to find out.

I tried search, but none turned up for 1986 Civic Si.

my issue is, I cannot figure out how to test the fuel pump.
Its has a 'newer' 12v sohc installed, but that dont mean sh*t to nobody, it ran all the way from olympia washington back to portland oregon just fine, then died as I was making a few errands the next day.

Anyhow help?

Thanks for all help in advance.
(btw, i know nothing when it comes to hondas, i know toyotas and suzuki VERY well )

Always start with fuel, spark, timing, and compression. If you have those the engine should run. Check them one by one if you have too.

Sounds like a fuel delivery issue, i'd check the power and relay to the pump 1st.

k, it turns out the starter is good, old is in pieces ad its getting fuel.
The parts stores seem to think the batt has gone to crap, soooo we're gunna take my Corolla GTS's Optima and see if that does it any justice.
hope hope hope! need this car OUTTA HEA!

replaced battery, terminals are new, starter tested just as good as a new one, but still all it does it clicks.
I'm gunna rig a push button starter on it to see if its wiring or even the ignition switch.

Check your grounds. ALL of them. I can't count how many times I've seen that be the source of problems on Hondas.

Starting issue resolved. Corrosion on the posi batt terminal resulted in no starting power.
Now, fuel pump issues arose............sucks.
Is the fuel pump sposed to make a very quite WHURRing noise or like a silverado truck make a loud BRRRRRRRR or a low WHIZ noise?
btw, removed fuel lines to the fuel filter int he engine compartment and turned ont he key, nothing. tried to start, nothing..removed fuel pump OUTLET hose, turned on key, nothing...at all.remaining fuel spilled out, but that was to be expected.
thinking fuel pump needs replacing

not necessarily. it could be the main relay which supplies power to the pump. have you gone back with with a multimeter yet?

actually, dont bother. if the car ran just the day before, the pump probably just went on you. probably had a good amount of resistence from the corrosion that had a hand in its eventual failure.

good luck!

turns out it was a funky terminal (overlooked i sposed....) for the 'bad starter'.
Fuel pump was pumping out a whopping 2psi or so...replaced it, fixed the fuel leaks and w/a new batt, and a few misc other things, it is now alive.
I acually do regret getting this car running since its not mine and i will never be repaid for me helping out a automotive illirate friend.
Thanks guys, much appreciated.
This site isn't as bad as i was told
Again, thanks =D
