Default kaboom motor??

ok heres the scoop... my ex has a 92 gsr ..she took the crank out of it it had some good miles on it so ....well i think i can pick it up for about a $1000....what do you think would be the cheapest way to fix it??? i wounld want to blow a pile of cash on it just get it running...like i don`t know but could i get a 1.8 motor and keep the 1.7 v-tec head...just to rebuild.. the conectingrod bolts are $30 a peice ..i think i maybe can get a used motor for $1-1500.... that puts me into the car for around $2-2500... that seem allright...what do you think i should do.....cheap!

What happened to the engine. When you say "she took the crank out of it", that can mean a whole lot of things. Is the engine toasted? Its quite difficult to respond to this kind of vague question. Guess thats what 93TealSi was trying to say in his own way.

hahah 5'11 , 175 lbs 17 years old...... my max is 205 jp i look big thats about it... but really lets help this guy out

yeah you should just go buy and ls motor with pistons, rods , and crank for $600 (if you look) then buy all the necessary components to make a safe running Ls/vtec motor... that would be the best thing to do... imo

how can that mean a whole lot of things?? to me it means the crankshaft has been taken out of the car.

gsrdaddy, you're asking how you can get the car running cheap right? i'd say the cheapest way to get the car running is to get a b18a for a few hundred bucks and swap that in. but then you have a very close ratio transmission on a big crank and the LS crank isn't meant to see 4-5k rpms on the highway while cruising. the cheapest way to get a reliable setup would be to do an entire LS swap i think. if you're looking for a little more power, then you could always use an LS bottom with the B17 head, but then i wouldn't want to use a 92 GSR tranny on an LS bottom, as i already said. you can find LS trannies for cheap tho. going LS vtec isn't real cheap tho. it can be done sorta inexpensively, but still not cheap.

you could also use a b16 crank in the b17 bottom and just make a b16 out of the b17. to me, thats the crank that belongs in that bottom anyways. and if you didn't wanna assemble a motor, just grab a complete b16 shortblock and throw it on the head and tranny. you won't need to swap ECUs, you have a good tranny for the crank size, and its the same head as a b16 anyways. it'll be just as fast as a b17, if not slightly faster.

I would seriously hope you can lift more than 200lbs if you weigh 225lbs. Strength is relative.

Can you take a hint and type in normal English instead of using elipses all the time?

So what exactly needs to be "fixed" with the car? The crank was taken out. So umm....put it back in.
