hey everyone, i want to install rear speakers in my 93 DX Hatchback since it is wired for them. Ive found the wires. When i test the drivers side with a speaker theres clear "working" music sound, but when i test the passenger side i get a loud click and the speaker compresses but no music sound just a low buzz. Anyone know what might be causing this ? PLEASE HELP !!!!!
Are you switching the speaker back and forth between the sides or are you just balancing back and forth.
If you swap the speakers does the problem follow the speaker or stay on the same side? If it follows the speaker the speaker is at fault. its voice coil is most likly scored from overdriving it and should be replaced.
If the problem does not follow then the issue is within the amplifier or head units channel that drives it.
FYI the only 2 things that can destroy a speaker are under powering and overdriving, one usually being the result of the other...

The sound sticks to just the passenger side. When i have 2 rears connected there is a slight sound of music but still the buzzing. When i have just passenger there is just a buzz. The drivers side is clear and undistored. Please let me know.
I bet its the speaker...You may have bought a bad speaker. Are they a well-known brand or some 10 dollar pieces off of eBay?
And did you buy them used off of someone? Maybe they blew it out before they sold you it....test it in someone elses car to make sure they are good.
If they are then its your wiring, check the wiring all the way to the speaker. You have an older hatch so maybe the speaker wires on that side corroded or something, or are intact with other wires...check that also...I cant really tell you anything else....just check the wires, and test the speakers in different cars...maybe swith the 2 speakers around and see if it still happens...
Good luck man

ditch the headunit.....
also theses cars are old, the headunits are also old, they can be worn out and things like that....get an aftermarket, you will be much happier.....
