Wow... That is horrible. Rod Journals and Crank Journals are probably trashed beyond repair.

We plan on reusing the block and building it with pistons and rods, is there anything we should look out for?

If you plan on reusing the block, have the main journals checked.

looks like someone uses Penzoil or Quaker State

notice all of the waxy buildup looking ****.....that is because of the presence of perafin wax that the few oil companies think is good to use

Wow! so, someone else thinks that is the reason engines that have had penzoil in them look like ****! I didn't know why but, I always shunned people from using penzoil due to that "waxy buildup" I have seen while taking apart engines that have been ran on penzoil. Thanks for the info .

Non Thread jacking info: Get those main Journals checked

he told me the block had been seized although he never looked at it.

i'm sure he and i will work something out...and we help one another whenever possible...its not like i consider this as getting ripped off. sometimes these things happen and it wasn't really anyones fault.

Tell your friend that oil changes are every 3000 miles not every 30,000 miles..

Check the crank and make sure it isnt screwed up, if so you can get a B16 crank for cheap.. Take that block to the machine shop and let the jet wash guy have fun with it..
