please help me identify this part
Hi, please help me indentify this part that says Honda on it. Obviously it has something to do with the air intake system, as it includes an air filter box, but I am woefully unfamiliar with Hondas and their parts.
I have posted a few pictures here: http://www.llanodelrio.com/honda.html.
Please tell me if you know which models this is for, and roughly what it might be worth. It looks dusty but unused.
Thanks.

It's the intake from a 96-00 Civic DX. This is based on my friend's 00 Civic DX. Other years may vary. Other models may be similar. Some assembly required Batteries not included. Each sold separately. Collect all four.
Actual retail value: $1.19

ok, thanks.
Any suggestions as to what I should do with it? I'm guessing I should try to sell it, or even just give it away locally. I'd like to have a good idea of what it's worth, if possible, if anything.
I have to confess, though my first car as a teenager was an '84 Accord, I'm only intimately familiar with '80s Volvos and their parts; something like this would of course be worth a lot of $ in that arena (you have to include the 42% Swedish industry surcharge to allow Trönd to retire to Uppsala at 50 with full pension).

To the right person who needs it, it can be useful, but otherwise, not many people would want this. Hang on to it if you have the space, otherwise roundfile.
Welcome to Honda-Tech, btw.

the previous tenants left it in my place. I kept this and some other stuff in a pile for over a year now, time for it to go. I'd rather not just throw it away. It really looks new (I'd be able to tell if it was used).
wow, now that I know what to look for, I checked on ebay and there appear to be many aftermarket parts like this for pennies.
Maybe I'll just give it to a local Honda shop?

I'm not saying I doubt you, but that's amazing. The paper air filter (Mann, made in Germany) ALONE for my '88 Volvo 240 costs $5 at best.
I know it's a pointless comparison, but this thing must cost more to Honda in the first place.

Everybody tears them out and replaces them with a short ram or cold air, that's why you have that one. They are not a moving part, so they do not "go bad" so there is no need for a replacment.
The only time people need them, is if they are putting their car back to stock to sell.

Ten bucks, if you find the right guy, and even then, it's probably not worth your time to get off your *** and deliver it, heheh.
