How long does it take to do this?
can be done in a day. pull the trans. with the motor and put back in with the motor. search search search and make sure you have all you'll need i.e. gaskets fluids.
Are there any precautions that I should take before and during the swap?
The motor I am putting in hasn't been ran in two years, is there anything I should do?

If you have all the right tools and an engine hoist it shouldn't take you more than 4-6 hours depending if you come across any unexpected set backs. That is of course if you have had experience with swaps. When I did my first swap by myself without any knowledge it turned out to be an all nighter. So find a couple of friends and have fun. It isn't difficult. Just a little time consuming if you don't know what you're looking for to pull a motor.
not to sound gay but you should really have some one help you just for safety reasons. it also helps to have a extra set of eyes when pulling the engine out and putting it in. not that i think you can't do it. it'll go alot slower though. if you got to do it that way then you have to. this board will be an invaluable tool to you. be patient, don't get ahead of yourself and if you are'nt sure then come here and ask. good luck you can pm me if you need to. it's a pretty straight forward swap. i don't think you'll have any wiring to do.
