Short shifters are NOT bad for the transmission. If anything happens to the tranny it's highly likely that it's attributable to driver error.

I've had a short shifter in my car for well over 80K miles and have no problems. The throw is very short, but the shifter itself is the same height as stock.

They are bad for the transmission in the same respect that shifting very hard is bad for it.

Same respect as racing your engine is bad for it.

You're just likely to increase the wear and tear on the synchro's and gears. The harder you push something, the faster it'll break. Other than that, they're fine.

yeah a short shifter wont hurt ur tranny itll just wear ur gears more because with a short shifter ur inclined to shift quicker and pop the clutch more just a habit

short shifters don't break trannsmissions. you do.

they are fine if you shift smart. make sure to completely disengage the clutch and don't slam it in gear like you're drag racing when you are just going to the store.

and this was covered IN DEPTH recently. I deleted it from my watched topics, but if someone else still has it, throw up a link [I searched my *** off and couldn't find it].

I have heard that too, but everytime I talk to people in the industry and ask if they get returns on short shifters, I always hear a "Nope". Must only be the no-name ebay ones that break.

Yeah, I have only seen a few pics of broken ones, not too common and they were generic ones.
