Ok now. I thougt it was just the stock muffler gone bad. Everytime I revved the car past 3000rpms you could hear a loud rattling coming from the exhaust (pipe? Cat? Muffler?). I couldn't Figure out what the problem was. I bought a 5Zigen Universal N1 muffler and had a custom catback job done to the car, But the rattle still remains. Still rattles at 3000rpm. I don't know what is wrong with the thing and I want to fix it bad. Can anyone help me and tell me how to fix it, Or even just tell me what the thing is or where the noise is coming from. I can hold the muffler up and it holds the rattle till about 4500 - 5000rpms, so I dont know what it is. SOmeone told me if is the muffler, but it happend with my stock muffler too. Please help.

 

I had the same problem on mine. It was the cat heat shield. Take that off and listen then. If it's not that then i don't know.

yea it most likely the heat shield because mine has been doing the same thing i just havent got around to ripping it off yet.

Do you have an aftermarket header or stock header and A-pipe?
Lots of oem a-pipes go bad and make funny rattling noises....just a thought...

thats exactly what mine did.......right at 3k rpms my stock exhaust manifold made a raspy/rattle noise......got my comptech header and it went away!

 

if its not the heat shield... zipp tie the **** out of it. thats what i did to my tail pipe

if you cut your rez/cat/or got a high flow.. or modified your piping.. it will rattle like that.. i like it personally.. on my old dc2 i had it stright piped with 2.25 piping all the way threw and it sounded like ****.. i loved it
