mechanical oil pressure gauge, anyone have one?
I was just wondering for those who have them, do you have any problems? I was wondering because the capillary that has oil going all the way to the gauge seems very unsafe.. i.e. if anything were to happen to the line, like if it got too hot it might burst and/or leak? Anyone have problems with leaking? I would like to know before I buy a mechanical one.
Or should I just get electric?

get electric
im a preson who thinks anytime you put boiling hot fluid into your cockpit, in a pressureized situation, its a bad idea.

My boss has a greddy mechanical oil pressure guage and his line bust once. All he did was change from an rubber line to a brass line and he never had that problem.

I couldn't agree more.
I seem to remember hearing/seeing somewhere they had a guage that ran almost to the firewall with the oil, then had a split in the line, and only water ran into the cockpit to drive the guage.

i use a mechanical guage (i like the 270 sweep). Just spend the money and get the teflon braided oil line kit. you should be good to go.
I have 98 civic and put an autometer phantom mechanical oil pressure gauge with the clear tubing autometer provides. I have had it for 2 years in my car and have had no problems. Now I can speak for the people that have posted all of the post that say it will burst, its because you install it wrong. Meaning by that is that you are not following instructions. Trust me it wont burst if you do it right. Either mechanical or electric works fine.

hahaha, that sucks man. I "heard" that mechanical measure the oil pressure more acurately....anyone care to agree or disagree? Seems to me that they would work the same as long as your oil pressure sensor is working properly, when using an electric guage.

I'm using an autometer ultralite mechanical oil pressure. I didn't trust the stock nylon crap line, so I got SS line and I never had a problem. I really don't see how those SS lines will leak if used correctly.
