B16A SiR1 or SiR2...?
Hey,
the previous owner of my car swapped in a B16A engine and I'm trying to figure out how to tell if it's a B16A SiR1 or SiR2 motor.
1) Is there any easy way to find out like by engine product number or something?
2) How many miles are usually on motors that are swapped in? I heard around 50,000 miles on average. What do you think the average mileage is?
Thanks

1. Look on the head above the number 4 exhaust port. You'll see four numbers, the one on the left is the year the head was produced. It will read 9/0 for 90 and 9/5 for 95, etc... What color are the plugs on the dizzy? Milky white=Sir1 obd 0, gray=SiR2 obd 1. If you have a p30 ecu it's obd 1. PR3 ecu's are common too but there is an obd 0 and an obd 1 version. You can tell by the cam covers as well. I believe the Sir2 b16's are polished. What car do you have?
2. Supposedly 30,000 miles but who knows. You really can't tell.
