96 CX Hatchback, Brakes? Hatch Lifts?
Hi Folks, I'm new to this forum. I just bought a used 96 CX Hatchback with 98K Miles on it. The guy who sold it to me said he had just replaced the brakes at 95K. When I test drove it, they seemed fine in that they didn't make any squeaky noises. During the 300 mile drive home through rain, the brakes would squeak quite a lot when applied. Is it normal for brakes to squeak due to wet weather? Or do I need to check them out. If so, what's the best way to check your brakes. I'll be honest, I don't have any experience working on cars. However, I'm pretty hand with tools so I'm not afriad to try something new.
Also, the hatch doesn't stay up when opened. I'm guessing that the lifts need to be replaced. Is this a simple job that I can do myself after buying the parts from the Honda dealership? Or, should I look for used parts someplace.
I would really appreciate any help!! Thanks.

brakes, you may have got dirt/ dust formation. i say; when i dought check/ change them out. any brake shop can inspect them usually for 1 hr worth of labor/ at times for free
