Do you Really Need a Knock Sensor??
I Have A 95 Civic Hb, i blew my mini-me(1.5 vtec head)<<lol.......and i just threw a d16y8, the engine has 45,*** miles...........it runs really good,i just got my own z6 computer, so ima go connect the vtec, pressure, ground blah to the ecu.........but my knock sensor was broken so i un bolted it and just left it off...............well my question is will it work if i connect the vtec- (A-4) vtec Pressure- (D-6)....Ground the Ground to the Chasis..........but wat do i do wit the knock Sensor- (D-3)??
Thanks
Thanks
If your ecu is OBD1 sohc then it isn't looking for a knock sensor signal. It doesn't matter if there is a sensor on the block, if the ecu doesn't recognize it it means nothing. You won't get a code for that.
I didn't have my knock sensor setup for a while and it threw a code on my b16. Fixed the CEL, but didn't notice any big differences in performance. I'd get it if your ECU requires it, for safe measures.

That's because you have a B16. All B-series VTEC had knock sensor, but the only D16 ecu that ever recongized a knock sensor is the 96-00 P2P ecu for Y8 engines. If he's running a P28 he does not need the knock sensor. If you use a chipped P28 on a B-series VTEC you don't need the sensor either.

Correct.

Correct.
