new mtoor ls/vtec problem
hey thanks for anyone that can help. went to the dyno today and found out vtec is not working. they told me
the wiring is good and correct
vtec solenoid clicks when 12 volts apllied
there is oil pressure goin to the head
what could the problem be? if any one can help it would be great
thanks

Is the ECU's VTEC trigger signal making it's way to the VTEC solenoid or did you only test the solenoid itself? If you haven't checked to see if the ECU is outputing a signal start by just jumping a wire from your battery to the VTEC sol. at idle. Does it bog your motor? If not then I would first try swapping VTEC solenoids if at all possible. Also you say this is a new motor? Does it have headwork and if so were the rockers ever removed? I've seen it happen a few times where someone forgets to reinstall a rocker piston, this lets all the oil pressure dump out of the rocker when the solenoid is clicked but with the leak the other pistons won't move (so you don't get VTEC). First things first figure out if the problem is electronic or mechanical. Good Luck
well i was getting the dyno done at inline and they said its not electrical issue the wiring is good they said its somethign mechanical
Okay well I would go about testing the electrical side first if you haven't already. If you go here you can read what I told another guy to do to test for your VTEC signal, and actually test the solenoid itself. If it turns out not to be electrical and you have oil press then it's most likely the solenoid or a missing rocker piston. Again was this head ever disassembled that you know of or since the last time it ran?
