Default T3/T4

I am thinking of putting a T3/T4 on it, and it's now an LS/VTEC, if I were to lower the compression enough should I keep the B16 head or just put a B18 head on it? also how would VTEC react to a T3/T4.

Thanks

The b16 head will work just fine. The t3/t4 will work just fine. Now if you want to be a little more specific about what turbo exactly then you'll probably get a more specific answer.

He said it, t3/t4 tells us almost nothing when it comes to the sizing of the turbo besides the fact that the turbo is usuing a t4 compressor housing and a t3 turbine housing

I would run high compression turbo...way more fun...my buddys h22 has 12.5:1 and running 17psi on his gt30 is a BLAST, my mr2 is supposed to be 9:1 but i have a feeling i got the wrong pistons becasue my compression is 215psi, and with 9:1 i should be 175psi...whichs leads me to believe i'm around 11:1 on my motor, i should have checked the volume and figured out the compression when i had the motor still dis-asembled

you will run less boost and make more horsepower as long as your not detonating

bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit

You WILL NOT come even CLOSE to making the kind of power on 11:1 that you will make on 9:1, period. If you think that having high compression makes some magical difference, that your turbo will suddenly spool quicker and make 75 WHP more at the same boost level you're wrong. It's all in your head from what you've read on HT. My B16 is 7.8:1 with an SC61. According to the HT bandwagon/myth it should BARELY spool up the turbo, it will feel super sloppy on the low end, will be down on power hugely compared to a stock B16, and higher compression would be better on the street. Wrong. There was no discernable difference in spool time between stock 10.2:1 compression and my new 7.8:1 compression. Power feels a little bit decreased on the top end, but then you look and say "Hey, on 10.2:1 I couldn't run more than about 13-14 psi on pump gas without detonating, and I had to pull out a ton of timing." Then you look at the 7.8:1 motor and say "Hey, on 7.8:1 I have no trouble running 21, 22 pounds of boost with no knock. Wow, I sure wish I went with 10.2:1 compression now, because I would have made much more power on 14 pounds of boost than I can with 22"

bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit bullshit...
you my friend are vastly mistaken

I work for a custom rod shop, and i do infact know what i'm talking about...I dont see you makeing over 450fwtq on pump gass do I????

Hmm...maybe there is something to this high compression thing??

I have been building imports for quite a while my friend...for an everyday car i would go higher compression, I like torque...

do you know what the quench area is???

Well we spend alot of time modifying the quench area on the higer compression boosted motors, so they can run high boost with high compression

I do infact run 1.5bar daily on my 50trim and i am making alot more hp/tq then most guys, becasue of my headdesign and higher compression

I am very sorry that i know nothing...we run motec, and aem on all our cars, so we can control total timming under boost....I run anywhere form 22-26 degrees of total timming under boost..and i pull almost no timming, unless its very very hot outside and my intercooler is soaking after a few pulls

But i bow down to you b16coupe...you are the all knowing master of the universe...

"It's all in your head from what you've read on HT"

BTW i never read anything outside the Forced induction area, and i dont listen to what others say...I do this all day long for a living, I'm quite sure i know what i'm doing

thanks though, maybe someday i will be able to run low compression and make 500hp and 210tq or something cool like that
