When I first bought the car, I noticed zero problems with the axles. I drove it for a few days, then took it to the drag stip. On the way home, I took a sweeping right corner under partial throttle and heard a loud grind. It was the first time I'd heard anything like that and figured I must have hit something with the header. Then I noticed it more and more throughout the next few days...only on sweeping rights under partial throttle. So I narrowed it down to an axle issue.

Fast forward to today. I changed my oil for the first time in this car and noticed oil all over the passenger side area and about a 1/8" gap between the axle and the trans.

Do I have the wrong axle or could it have just popped out while launching? I never heard anything before I went to the track. My car is on stock suspension too.

Please advise on the best course of action to remedy the problem. Thanks

 

Your problem is that the integra inner CV joint is not (spline waise and cup depth wise) long as the prelude one is. That in turn makes the c-clip that holds the axle in the trans come out. Your grinding noise is probably coming from axles pulling out and grinding with he splines of the trans. It fix this, you need aftermarket axles or a prelude inner CV cup (and I carry the prelude bearings over too).

Of course, this is only true if the integra axles are stock with stock CV joints.
