Overheating and fan wont work!
Hi, in the past couple of days in heavy traffic my car has started overheating. The temp gauge is about 3/4 full so I shat my pants and turned the heater on full which dropped it back down to under 1/2. I stopped at my GF's house and let it idle for a few minutes and surely enough it went past half way but what I dont get is my fan doesnt seem to be working. Now i think there is something wrong with the fan. Did I blow a fuse or is the fan fucked? How do i diagnose???
I also got told it might be the "temperature sensor". Where is this and how can i check it? Is it a cheap fix?
Car doesnt overheat while driving or idling for a little while, just in heavy traffic and when its idling for ages.
Help

check the fuse in the engine bay. if its good, unplug the fan and run the wires straight to the battery. if it dont turn, your fan is out.
"temperature sensor"? i take it you mean thermostat. remove the radiator hose where it meets the block and its there. thermostat is pretty cheap and easy to replace.

I think i meant the fan switch which is located on the thermostat housing on a B16a right? What i'll do is jump the fan. If it works its probably the fan switch thats fucked. If it doesnt work, it will either be the fan, the relay or the fuse. Am I correct?
Check the Thermoswitch on the Thermostat housing - when it reaches its' threshold temperature it will open the electric circuit to the engine cooling fan - another thing to do is check your cooling fan to make sure it is working correctly as well.
