Don't cut the leads on the sensors themselves. Only mess with the harness side, and make sure any connections you make are soldered. Personally I recommend not cutting wires, but opening up the conduit on the harness and pull the O2 connectors over to where you need them, then tape it back up. you might have to pull the wires out of the connector one at a time to get them through the tangled mess to where you want them, then reinsert them into the plug...
interruptions in the continuity of the wires can change the voltage that reaches the ecu, which can give false readings so it's important to mod it right.
