Vtec engagement problem.... already searched.
I've search and got some answers, but still have not fixed my problem. I have a 2000 ITR. The Vtec is only working at times. And when it does work, it kicks in at around 6,500-7,000 rpm. ITR's are supposed to kick in at 5700 rpm. But a lot of the time when vtec engages, it kick in and out and hesitates to redline.
I am not getting any codes or anything. The engine oil is also fine.
Anyone have any ideas? Please help.
Thanks

yes, the car is warmed.
If the sensors are bad, wouldn't it set off the check engine light?

I do know that not every sensor will trip a CEL when it goes bad. I don't know first-hand if the oil pressure sender falls into that category. There's some discussion in this thread that suggests a bad oil pressure sensor might not cause a CEL.
