anyone w/ big brake on itr?
anyone here with big brake kit on itr?? if so please post pix. interested installing rotora brake kit or brembo on my itr. also, what's the clearance on those.
thnx
thnx
Just curious...
I can lock the tires up and get anti-lock to come on with my stock brakes. I dont think bigger brakes would help stop faster. Could be wrong though...

There's a bunch of people on here with bigger brakes (Wilwood, Brembo, AEM, Rotora, Baer..)
There's also a bunch of people that would recommend, that unless you're making a show car, stick with stock size rotors. What are you using your ITR for? Road racing, HPDE, Autox, drag racing, performance driving?

They might not stop that much faster, but better brake fade, along with better brake cooling is always good. Especially if you can get thicker rotors in there that don't warp/crack like stocks.
Stopping faster is not the only purpose for good brakes. Brakes that don't fade can make you a more confident/consistent driver and that itself can make it worth it.

You're absolutely right... stopping distance is tire limited in just about all cases. If you're getting brake fade on a track and can't lock your tires, then you're running into brake friction limited stopping.
So I guess it depends on what you're looking for. I can 'get by' with stock rotors, calipers, Autozone $25 rotors and racing brake pads at a HPDE, even though I make 2x the torque of a stock ITR and am reaching 140 on straightaways. I just use racing brake pads in the fronts.
I've considered caliper upgrades though, I'd like to have more even pad wear and better brake feel. I'll probably stay stock though.
But, a show kaR on stock rotors/calipers isn't going to win the show

Really, street/performance pads will make you happy. They'll NEVER fade on the street, or at any autocross, and will likely survive a track lapping day.
Good luck... welcome to the board. P.S. the SEARCH function is really awesome, just make sure you check archived content too. "Recent Topics" is usually about 2 weeks worth, "Archived" is the other 4.5 years of content.

Also--- adding UNSPRUNG, ROTATING weight to a car is the worst place to add it! Makes handling and acceleration worse.

I have the Stoptech brake system. Here are some pictures here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=922555
I am looking for a Spoon caliper setup as well so I can use 15" wheels.

i'd suggest more agressive brake pads and brake fluid if this is for road racing or autocross. IMO, brake kits are either for bling (spoon calipers) or for the very experienced hardcore racer.
Also--
If you want a brake pad with an absolutely MONSTEROUS braking friction, Carbotech XP9's front/XP8's rear is a great combo. XP8's all around are a little bit more conservative.
I've used Stock, Raybestos dust free
, Porterfield R4, Porterfield R4S, Carbotech XP8/9 (a.k.a. 1108/1109), and Cobalt Spec VR's. Carbotech pads have an awesome amount of stopping power.

For all-out track heat resistance though, Cobalt Spec VR's are my pick so far. They throw lots of sparks when you stop, too FWIW.
